Airbourne - Black Dog Barking (09/07/2013)
Warrnambool hard rockers Airbourne are back with a new album called Black Dog Barking, their first since 2010's No Guts No Glory.
The album certainly starts off brilliantly with the aptly named Ready To Rock and you certainly have to be ready to rock before listening to this great hard rocking record. Track two which is called Animalize features a slightly more aggressive vocal style than what we're used to but it works perfectly before the very radio friendly No One Fits Me (Better Than You) hits your ears and you can't help but hum along to the very catchy chorus.
Back In The Game and Firepower are exactly the sort of songs that Airbourne fans have come to expect from the band and are sure to be highlights of future live shows and it is then when we come to the lead single from the album which is called Live It Up.
The comparison between this intro and the intro to AC/DC's classic For Those About To Rock is hard to miss as it's almost identical but as soon as frontman Joel O'Keefe screams “Let's go” the song takes off in a completely different direction to surely become one of Airbourne's biggest tracks with killer riffs and catchy vocals the song has it all.
Hungry is a fast paced, foot tapping song before the album comes to an end with the title track Black Dog Barking and it's an absolute ripper!
Far too often Airbourne are classed as an AC/DC cover band or rip off band but listening to this record (just like their past two) proves exactly why they are their own band and are making a pretty big name for themselves at home and overseas so do yourself a favour and go out and buy this CD and support Australian music!
