Modestep - Evolution Theory (23/04/2013)
UK electronic group Modestep have released their debut studio album, Evolution Theory.
Show Me A Sign is a worthy opening to the record, with its gradual build up followed by a heavy bass drop. It sets you up for what to expect for the following tracks.
The title track Evolution Theory, is a little different to the rest with a greater focus on rapping. Combined with the drum and bass, it is an impressive track.
The group’s most successful single from the record is Sunlight. It is a catchy dubstep track and I can see why it is a favourite for many people. I found it hard to get sick of the lyrics “The sunlight hurts my eyes”, which fits in perfect with the beat.
If you are looking for an instrumental track, Freedom is the one to listen to. It involves heavy guitar work with drums and sounds like it could be used as the intro to an action packed movie.
Time is about as close to mellow as a track will get on this album, a chance to calm down from the intense beats.
The lead single on the record, Feel Good, is another catchy song from Modestep. The vocals seem to match up well with the rhythm and beat of the track to bring together a great product. If you like electronic music, in particular dubstep, then this album is definitely worth a listen.
