Rudimental - Home (10/07/2013)
They are the four Brits that are producing big sounds and big buzz in the music industry since 2011. It has taken a little while for Rudimental to gain commercial momentum but a few catchy tracks have propelled them to the forefront of the charts.
The London quartet, consisting of songwriters and producers Piers Aggett, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and Leon Rolle, has reached number one in the UK numerous times and now Australia is embracing the unique sound.
Their debut album Home features 12 tracks composed by the boys and sung by an array of versatile and competent singers.
Waiting All Night sold 50,000 copies in the UK in one day and has garnered two million views on the band’s Youtube channel in Australia. The video features Kurt Yaeger, a BMX champion and actor who became an amputee in 2006, and his inspirational recovery.
Feel the Love and Not Giving In have received plenty of air time, just enough to make people notice their sound-clashing instruments, beats and soulful voices. Those voices are provided by an array of singers, including the incredibly talented Emeli Sandẻ, who lends her voice to More Than Anything and Free.
Free is a standout track on the album for me. Her voice coupled with the lyrics is such a powerful combination and makes the song definitely worth a listen. She sings of how she may not look and act like you want but she’s free and that’s all that matters.
They derive their sound from garage, house and R&B roots and all elements are seamlessly combined for a catchy sound.
Home sweeps over you until you are immersed in the music. It is the ideal chill out summer soundtrack for lazy days by the pool.
