Skipping Girl Vinegar - Making Our Way (09/07/2013)
Following on from their successful tour in the US and much acclaimed albums, Sift the Noise and Keep Calm, Carry the Monkey, local band Skipping Girl Vinegar have released their new single Making Our Way, and are proving just why they’re a local icon.
The track, which boasts a hopeful anthemic feel, echoes through the room and delivers on the bands signature style. With a soothing chorus of voices, continual beat and gentle strings coursing through the song, it’s hard not to like this sun-soaked indie tune.
At first listen, Making Our Way comes across as a simple track, but as each layer is added the song becomes an edgy pop tune with underlying tones of despair. The songs only fault is that there isn’t an introduction to ease into the song and as a result Making Our Way’s start comes off a bit abrupt.
Aside from their musical abilities, Skipping Girl Vinegar has managed to add that personal touch to their single. Released as a limited edition the CD fits into a cosy cardboard satchel, complete with your own paper crane folding instructions. The band is clearly aware of where they fit into the music industry and this certainty can be seen in the music they produce.
