Taylor Swift - Red (28/03/2013)
I don’t care that my other review I submitted at the same time as this was for the new Converge album, I love Taylor Swift. She is adorable and writes catchy music that is impossible to get out of your head and really, what more do you want?
After four studio albums, Taylor isn’t pushing any boundaries, but that’s not what you would expect. Catchy choruses? Check. Songs about broken hearts? Check. Songs directed at her celebrity ex-boyfriends? Definitely check. It’s Taylor’s formula, and it works well for her.
Lead single We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is probably the catchiest song I have heard in a very long time, and definitely my favourite track from last year. While the lyrics may seem cliché, the simple chord structure and Taylor’s vocals result in what is a song that you just cannot get out of your head. Seriously, you will be humming the chorus of this song to yourself for months.
22 seems like a spiritual successor to her previous hit, 15, as another song about day to day life as a young women, but its much more of an upbeat, catchy song. Seriously pretty much every chorus on this album is so catchy you can’t stop thinking about it, and that is exactly what you want from an artist like Taylor.
This album delivers her songs about love and heartbreak in an incredibly catchy way, and with this kind of music, that’s all you can ask for. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Taylor Swift fan, or not, this album will work its way into your head and linger for days, especially with how undeniably catchy the songs are.
