Traveller & Fortune - Alaska (04/10/2013)
The folk group have released their latest single, Alaska, which follows their latest self-titled album they released late last year.
Traveller And Fortune has already got a decent following with their bittersweet tracks catching the hearts of listeners. The band travelled around Australia in August which is quite different to their usual low lit bars in Adelaide. But the band is definitely getting the recognition they deserve.
The latest track, Alaska, is a testament to their growth as a band. Having a similar feel to their other songs, the crooning vocals of lead singer, Tom West, is brought to us once again. The chorus is sort of similar to the idea of calling and answering, with West singing and the backup vocals answering.
The vast range of instruments is evident in the track with the mandolin, guitar, percussion, piano and other instruments, all complimenting the artists at composing a song with such diversity of sound. The track beautifully knows when to build but is also able to strip back and leave us with a fleeting moment of bittersweet tranquillity.
Traveller and Fortune have created a fantastic track that really displays their multi instrumental talents as well as showcasing their unique sound as a band. The band has nowhere to go but up from here. It is expected that an EP will be released later in the year by the Adelaide based band.
